Cairdeas Award

Hand in Hand is a national children's cancer charity, providing free practical and emotional support to families from the point of a child's cancer diagnosis, through active treatment and beyond. The charity was founded in 2006 by a group of volunteers in Galway after supporting a local family whose two-year-old daughter was receiving leukaemia treatment at Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Dublin. What began as a response to one family's need has grown into a nationwide service, now supporting families across all 26 counties. Our core services include household cleaning, laundry support and family meals, alongside emotional supports such as play therapy and counselling - all delivered free of charge.

Hand in Hand's mission is to ease the stress and anxiety of a childhood cancer diagnosis so families can focus on what matters most: their child's health and wellbeing.
