Mayor of Limerick
John Moran was elected mayor of Limerick in June 2024, becoming Ireland’s first ever directly elected mayor.
John previously served as Secretary General of the Department of Finance from 2011 to 2014 during Ireland’s recovery from the financial crisis of 2008. He also served as Director and Member of Risk Policy Committee of European Investment Bank.
John is currently a Director at Mannock and Chair of DirectRoute (Limerick) Ltd, the board of the companies managing the Limerick Tunnel PPP.
He is also the founding member and CEO of consulting company RHH International.
John has also held several senior leadership roles including at Warburg Pincus, the Shannon Airport Group, Revolut and the Land Development Agency. He was also previously CEO and a board member of Zurich and was CEO and one of the founding employees of Zurich Capital Markets.
John holds a degree in Law from UCD and has a Masters from the Wharton and Law Schools at the University of Pennsylvania.
